Pewari’s Prattle: Aspiring to Randomness Since 2003

Silence

The problem with not writing a blog regularly is that you eventually find you have even less to say.

My brain no longer is in the mode of thinking “oh, I must blog about that” when something happens or I read something interesting during the day. I don’t feel the need to share every minutiae or my current interest of the day any more.

Blogging hasn’t been the only casualty of late, I haven’t picked up a camera in ages either, let alone posted to my Flickr or Fotonomy accounts on a regular basis.

It’s not that I feel they’ve come to a natural end. I miss them and the communities within them – but not so much that I have made any great efforts to increase their focus in my daily life, obviously. And the longer I go without making any contribution, the easier it is to let them slide further out of my life.

So how do you bounce back from non-participation? Are there bloggers who have returned from their hiatus willing to share what helped them to refocus?

Haven’t quite got over the lack of writing yet, but the 365 project is happily getting me back into photography.

Finding my blog might be deleted was a wake up call. The only way I found I could take up the mantle again was to actually sit down and do it. I still don’t manage every day but I at least feel I’ve got some kind of blogging routine now.

I signed up for the Hollidailies challenge last December – an entry every day for a month. I kept writing daily until I busted my knee – now I feel my life/thoughts are too boring to blog so I am back to update about once a week.

Not sure on the photo taking – i keep saying I need to carry the camera more but then i worry about it getting stolen at the gym etc. I am wondering whether upgrading the phone to one with a 2 megapixel camera might be the way to go.

Write about nothing. Check my blog this past couple of weeks, I’ve been struggling to write but once I get so far into a post I find it begins to flow a little.

Doesn’t matter what you start with, you can always edit it later.

I have been going through the same phase as you as a blogger, but as a reader I miss it when you don’t blog. It is difficult to believe that other people want to read about one’s daily living, but they do! Especially those who are at the same stage of life, or like me its interesting to see how different it is nowadays to bring up children (and do homework)! But also people from different countries like to see what happens here. So I am going to do what Gordon does and write in the hope that the flow will come back! Reading the comments are also part of the fun of it all. I am sure it also helps to concentrate one’s ideas about things that happen daily, and sorting those out can be cathartic!

I found that events today jolted me back to life for sure.

As Gordon said. Also, write drivel. And then don’t publish it. (Or do!). But definitely write it

So basically, I should just get back in the habit by writing anything? Okay. More drivel coming up :)

Miss L: you’re right about finding it hard to believe that people want to read about the daily stuff. I think that’s probably my sticking point – nothing remarkable is happening at the moment, so I’m not remarking!

Oh, and I actually took a PHOTO yesterday. Go me!
